Former Pupil News |
We had the pleasure of a visit from Jim Fiddes (1959) at the school yesterday afternoon.
Jim kindly joined us to discuss the long relationship his family has with the School. Jim's Father, Fred Fiddes was a bursary pupil from 1918 to 1926. Fred, who you will see centre-front in the left image had a long list of accolades from his time at Heriot's, from School Captain to his inclusion in the World War II 'Role of Honour'. Fred followed this with an M.B.E and with an illustrious medial career in Edinburgh. This is just a taste of his story.
Jim and his two brothers, John and Willie also attended Heriot's, you will see Jim on the right-hand image, and just like his Father before him, he is School Captain and centre -front.
The most recent Fiddes Herioter is Jim's daughter, Rachel (1994), who has been blazing her own trail since leaving Heriot's.
To get the full story of the Fiddes 'Generations of Herioters' you will need to wait for the 2024 copy of Quadrangle, when we will be running a feature on various families with a long lineage of Herioter Pupils.
If you like to get involved with this, or any other feature in Quadrangle, please do get in touch via dev@george-heriots.com, we would be delighted to hear from you.
