George Hall (1942) turns 100

Heriot's was delighted to learn that George Hall (1942) turned 100 in February.

Incredibly, George is still teaching the history of musical theatre each week (via zoom now from his home in Brighton) for the Royal Academy of Music, having worked with them for three decades.

George was born in the Polwarth area of Edinburgh on February 5th 1925 and attended Heriots from 1935-42. After six years in the army, he joined the Old Vic Theatre School and graduated in 1951 alongside Dame Joan Plowright and Prunella Scales.

His career since then as actor, composer of more than 1000 performed songs, BBC TV musical director in the 50's and 60s, voice coach and performer has been astonishing.

Happy Birthday George!
