Recently, the Development Office had the pleasure of welcoming back to campus Professor Peter Wilson (Class of 1984) and his wife, Caroline. They were visiting Edinburgh from Wiltshire to attend The Centre for Power Electronics Annual Conference, held at the University of Edinburgh on Tuesday 7 July.

As a third-generation Herioter, Peter knew the campus like the back of his hand and thoroughly enjoyed revisiting his old classrooms at the top of the turrets. He fondly recalled being taught there by Gibby Galloway. During their visit, Peter and Caroline also explored some of the school’s newer facilities, including the Grassmarket Sports Complex.

After leaving school in 1984, Peter went on to achieve a BEng from Heriot-Watt University, an MBA from Edinburgh Business School, and a PhD from the University of Southampton.

He is currently a Professor in the Department of Electronic and Electrical Engineering at the University of Bath and has very kindly offered to become a mentor for current pupils interested in pursuing a career in engineering.

Most importantly, Peter and the lovely Caroline were especially keen to revisit the Chapel, where they said “I do” 30 years ago this month. Many congratulations to you both on this wonderful milestone.
