On Monday 5 June, we celebrated June Day at George Heriot’s School in honour of our Founder, George Heriot. It was wonderful to welcome 25 Former Pupils back to School for the celebrations, including one Former Pupil who only left School last year (2022) and Mr Lex Turner (1937), aged 103.

Our Former Pupils regaled us with tales from their own June Day experiences including one instance when the June Day holiday was not granted by the Principal as too many hijinks had been taking place prior to June Day. (They know who they are).

The celebratory lunch brought together S6 Pupils, Former Pupils, Current Parents and Staff. Former Pupil, Mr Jim McVicar (1957) met Matthew, one of the School’s Vice-Captains and the two shared some stories and memories of their time at Heriot’s, illustrating the shared pathways of Herioters whatever the decade.

We hope many of you will join us for June Day 2024 and if you would like to pop into School for a visit before then, please contact the Development Team on dev@george-heriots.com.
