We had the pleasure of welcoming Caroline Hunter (1987) back to the School today to talk about her time at Heriot's.
Caroline joined George Heriot's in 1981 at a time when the first female pupils were entering the School. Arriving from Leith Primary, Caroline recalled how she sat through a morning and afternoon of entrance exams in the School Hall, which at the time retained its full height architecture. Many of you will remember just how that must have felt for a young child of 11.
Caroline was competitive and enjoyed all that Heriot's offered throughout her school years, from maths to singing in the choir, biology to drama, eventually being awarded the first female Dux. Caroline would go on to study maths at Churchill College Cambridge, thereafter having a very successful career as an Actuary .
As Caroline was awarded a Bursary to attend Heriot's, which is something she is very proud and passionate about, she will be working with the School as we start the 'We are All George Heriot' Campaign' this year. Look out for her Herioter story discussing the transformative power of a Bursary, this Spring.
If you are keen to get involved with the celebrations, or indeed have your Herioter story to tell, please email, Darren, Ailsa, Eilidh and Julie on dev@george-heriots.com
