Excellence continues at George Heriot’s School

A word on exam results from the Principal.

Excellence continues at George Heriot’s School

I am delighted to announce the results of this year’s SQA examinations. In what has been an exceptional year for the school, pupils have once again attained an outstanding set of awards across the board.

At National 5 level, S4 pupils achieved 98.8% pass rate (A-C) with 88.8% passes at A grade – the highest percentages attained in recent years and with 118 pupils (65.2% of the year cohort) getting straight As.

At Higher level, S5 pupils gained 97.0% passes (A-C) with 75.6 % at A grade, a superb statistic. 95 pupils (53% of the year cohort) achieved straight A grades in all their Higher exams, an outstanding achievement.

Finally, and maintaining these high standards, was the S6 cohort, who achieved 91.7% (A-C) at Advanced Higher Level (with 60.6% at A grade).

This accomplishment is a true reflection of the hard work and dedication demonstrated by each and every pupil and the individual stories that lie behind each grade gained. Their efforts have been rewarded in gaining an outstanding set of collective results, results that are a reflection of who we are as a school. We are proud of Heriot’s ethos that balances the demands of a holistic education with the ambition to retain the highest of academic standards and thus maintain the School’s position as sector-leading for ‘Attainment and Achievement’ across Scotland. Congratulations to all.

I wish to take this opportunity to thank the staff for their continued professionalism, care and effort that once again has borne out through the pupils’ superb exam results and of course the families that partner with the School in supporting their children through their educational journey and in particular the examination years.

We wish all our leavers who are either embarking upon their next stage of education, or entering the workplace, a productive, successful and enjoyable future.
