Join Professor Corey Brennan of Rutger’s University in New Jersey at George Heriot’s on Monday 27th November from 9am

A limited number of tickets are available for Former Pupils to join us for this fascinating lecture, ‘The Fasces: A History of Ancient Rome’s Most Dangerous Political Symbol’, which will deal with this symbol of power over the centuries, including examples from Scotland. 

For those who are particularly interested Classical History, or indeed politics, you may recognise Professor Brennan from the BBC Four Series 'Colosseum,’ in which he has written and appears in all eight episodes. He is also known for 'Meet the Romans with Mary Beard,' and Caligula:1400 Days of Terror.' Professor Brennan is also known as a prolific writer of books and journals, including 'The fasces. A history of Ancient Rome’s most dangerous political symbol,' on which the lecture is based.
