Heriot's is delighted to be named Scottish Independent Secondary School of the Year for Academic Excellence in The Sunday Times Parent Power Guide.

For those with a subscription to The Times, you can read more in this digitial supplement.

This was a well timed accolade to celebrate as Principal Gareth Warren officially launched Heriot’s Strategic Ambition 2025-2030 journey to parents earlier that week.

Headlines about the School's academic focus

  • Heriot’s is undergoing an ambitious whole-school curriculum review, building on the school’s commitment to knowledge rich subject specialism and the high attainment that follows, to ensure pupils are prepared for a dynamic future.
  • The School’s aim is to strengthen the curriculum by focussing on the development of the individual through pupil agency, skills and digital capabilities, assuring the emergence of independent learners who are equipped to flourish in an unpredictable landscape.

Part two of Heriot’s Strategic Ambition will be launched in Spring 2026: watch this space...

Work Hard, Be Kind and Be Yourself sit at the heart of everything we do here at Heriot's. If you're interested in hearing more about the Strategic Ambtiion in 2026, please let the Development Team know and we will endeavour to keep you up to date.
